• Negative: Old room. Booked a superior accommodation but was clearly given a standard room. Not clean, very old and dated. Bathroom was from the Middle Ages.

• Positive: The position of the hotel in Nice; the décor and the garden.
• Negative: The fact that the locks on the bedrooms were almost impossible to use and also that the steps down to the garden did not have a handrail & so were quite unsafe. The bathroom was very dated & needed upgrading.

• Common facilities and services: 5 The breakfast was pretty average - tinned fruit salad with a bit of fresh apple added and weak orange juice is appalling in a hotel with fruit trees in the garden. It would have been nice to have tea available as well as coffee in the afternoons. The cakes were clearly left over from breakfast! The steps to the garden need a handrail. It would be better to have small tables at the top of the steps rather than stools so that those people (like my mother) who could not manage the steps without help, could sit outside for breakfast.
• Staff: 10 All very friendly & welcoming.
• Quietness: 5 Room onto Victor Hugo was noisy at night & early a.m. Double glazing would solve this.
• Room: 7.5 Locks on rooms need replacing!!! Good décor in the room & it was nice to have a kettle & refreshments, however the tray should be filled each day by the maids. I had to ask for more teabags. The bathroom was dated and really let the room down.
• Value for money: 5 We expect Nice to be expensive relative to other places in France and it is. Fresh fruit salad & orange juice, easy access to rooms, new bathrooms & safer access to the garden would have made this score excellent.
