Exchange the hustle and bustle of city life for this delightful family-run hotel in an area not well-known to tourists. With a true flair for details and decorating, the owners have combined contemporary and classic styles, mixing fabrics, colours and materials with stunning results. The new building has been constructed on half of the Cisterian Abbey of Santa Maria, a convent complex of which the other half is still occupied. Architectural enhancements echo the ancient abbey with columns and vaulted ceilings. Breakfast is served downstairs with windows looking out to the ancient Palazzo Rusca with loggia, as do many of the guest bedrooms. The quaint town of Follina with its mountain backdrop is a perfect starting point for explorations of Treviso, Asolo and the Prosecco wine roads. In addition to the wonderful view of the peaceful Veneto landscape with its green vineyards and hills, guests at the Hotel dei Chiostri have a choice of 15 rooms, each different from the other and featuring eclectic design elements. Daylight pours in through the large windows in every room, accentuating the shapes and colours. The seemingly casual decorative scheme is a clever mix of antique and minimalist, classical and ethnic, fine woods, wickerwork and silk, marble and perspex that creates a most harmonious effect. Each room has its own personality and is decorated in different colours that are often subtly reminiscent of the delicate 18th century tones of the Palazzo Barberis Rusca that you can see from the windows.
