• Negativ: Ideally situated hotel. We booked hotel Confortel Puerta de Triana for a stay from 20 – 23 of September 2010. It is ideally situated near the city centre of Sevilla (about 200 mtrs. from the Guadalquivir near the bridge to the Triana quarter), but also at a very busy and very, very noisy road. The hotel has 68 rooms divided over 6 floors, and fortunately there is a rather large elevator. In the lobby you will find two computers with free internet. When we booked the hotel, we asked for a quiet room. At our arrival room 504 was assigned to us, which is a really large, nice room at the front side of the hotel, with a rather large bathroom with shower. We doubted that this was a quiet room, but the man at the desk assured us that the room on the 5th floor was absolutely quiet at night and we decided to give it a try. We never had such a terrible night! Although the twin bed and the air-conditioner (nearly soundless) were very good, we could hardly get any sleep because of the traffic. It is really unbelievable that the windows at the front side are not soundproofed. Although my wife never complains about a hotel room (and we travel a lot), this was the first time she also agreed to ask for another room. The next morning the lady at the desk immediately and without discussion gave us another room, so we asked ourselves why we could not have had this room the night before. We changed to room 509, which had a view on the courtyard. This room was smaller, but had a bathroom with a tub and a shower. It had a very good double bed and the airco functioned even better than the one in 504, though it is directed towards the bed, so it is better to switch it off at night and to open the window. There was a fridge (with free bottles) and an LCD TV with many channels, the BBC being the only English channel and there was a linen cupboard with a safe in it. Both room and bathroom were impeccably clean. Breakfast was really good and abundant, with many pastries. Bread must be toasted (too dry to eat it untoasted), and there are several kinds of meat products, cheese, jam and some kinds of cereals. Except at our arrival, staff is extremely kind and helpful. Because of a strike in France we had to rebook our original flight with Ryanair into a flight with Vueling a day earlier. Although it is not her task at all, the lady at the desk made the booking for us by calling the Spanish company, which we really appreciated. So our score for readiness to help is 9 out of 10, whereas the total score might be 7 out of 10. Tip: do not travel Ryanair. It is unexplainable that Ryanair cancelled a flight to Germany because of a strike in France, whereas Vueling was still able to fly to the Netherlands, French strike or not!
