• Positive: A lovely little gem of a place, cosy decor, very clean. For a hostel I was pleasantly surprised. Very cheap, private and within walking distance of the town. Staff very nice, helpful, all female. I stayed here to get a few more days in Santiago whilst on Spanish residential school with the OU. I'd stay here again!
• Negative: No clear reception area - I wasn't sure where to go when I arrived quite late at night! Make your way towards the courtyard at the rear of the hostel on the ground floor - you'll find the staff there!
• I RECOMMEND it for... Young travelers, Older travelers, Couples, Peace seekers, Classic style lovers, Budget travelers, Business travelers
• I recommend it especially AGAINST... Luxury, Modern style lovers
• Cleanliness: 10 Very clean hostel
• Location: 10 Cafe right next door for breakfast, banks shops and old town 5 mins walk round corner. Excellent location.
• Common facilities and services: 10 Bathroom shared, very clean.
• Staff: 10 Not overly warm & jovial people but very courteous, efficient. I particularly commend them for their understanding when I had to cancel the second leg of my stay with them with just a few hours notice when I fell, dislocated my elbow and had to remain at the university for the duration of my stay. La Carballinesa did not charge me for my cancellation which I thought was very noble of them as many might have.
• Quietness: 10 Very quiet, I was hardly ever disturbed by noise.
• Room: 10 Lovely cosy authentic Spanish room, good size, very comfortable bed.
• Value for money: 10 Definitely - I got more than I expected! Muchas gracias La Carballinesa!
