Tarragona is located on the Catalonian coast. As the capital of the Costa Dorada or so-called “Golden Coast”, it boasts marvellous beaches and a warm Mediterranean climate.
As the former capital of a Roman province, it has succeeded in preserving a large part of its Roman history. The old “Tarraco”, as it was known, was declared a world heritage site by the UNESCO. Among its many monuments, the following are especially notable: the walls, the praetorium , the circus, the forum, the theater and the Paleochristian necropolis.
On the Mediterranean Sea, the city is in itself a living museum, and its people are very open and welcoming to visitors.
