Set atop a hill to the south of the Tagus River is the capital of the province. With a long, rich history dating back to Roman times, Caceres boasts numerous monuments. In addition, the historic quarter of the city has been declared a World Heritage site. Two other cities of interest are Trujillo and Guadalupe, whose monastery was also declared a World Heritage site. You can see a map of Cáceres at the bottom of this page.
