 Overview of Pamplona

Pamplona, the capital of Navarre, is a city of contrasts. On one hand, it is old; its history dates back to when Roman General Pompeii founded it in 75 BC. Today, with a population of more than 170,000, it has a medieval air in the center, near the cathedral, as well as modern neighborhoods with wide streets.

It is famous around the world for the traditional fiestas of San Fermín. The popular running of the bulls through the streets, bullfights, music, dance and a great deal of rowdiness come together and transform the city into an explosion of life from July 6 to 14.
